Porsche and HD "cooperation"

Sure did. Sort of ironic that a company that is noted for it's early air cooled engines was brought on to design the one liquid cooled engine for a motorcycle company.

Kinda surprised BRP/Rotax is not involved as they have designed the engines for recent under 1000cc BMW models as well as Italian motorcycle manufacturer Aprilla. They also do aviation, marine, racing cart and snowmobile engines.

I don't mind HD and Porsche working together, I would definitely be interested to see what comes out of it, the VRod is a good thing as far as I'm concerned, maybe the next venture will be even better.

VRod motor was actually Eric Buell working with Porsche for a V-twin superbike motor. Motor company got involved and turned it into a larger/heavier powerplant for the VRod series. Just one of the many times EB got the shaft from the motor company.

If they're in bed together for a new engine design, my hunch would be some new water cooled series for upcoming engines to meet new regs. Here goes the bumps of "next year will be all new watercooled engines" threads.

A current design Softail, Dyna, or touring bike with a v-rod motor. Even with a higher revving V-twin, you still have a ton of torque down low. The RC51 I had was rated at something like 123-127hp and 70ish hp at the crank stock. In first and 2nd, I could go WOT at 2k-3k RPM and have the front just come straight up in the air. That's with just a 1k v-twin.
A 1300 some odd CC new design v-twin from the Porsche/HD collaboration could be a monster. Look at the power Ducati is getting out of their power plants.
Hell, a sportster with a new much more powerful twin would have me in line with pen in hand.
