I was contacted by my buddy in Tucson and he said we need to
go out for a nice ride to clear our head and download the weeks troubles.
It started out at 7:30 with a pleasent breakfast and got hot from there. At 10 am it was 107. We thought lets head for higher elevation so went to about 3500 feet and it was 112, which wasn't that bad. we enjoyed the day, had a brew and stopped at raodside shops and my head was clear, but we had to start the trip home. We started the ride back to Phoenix and 3:00 and as we got closer his wife was getting more and more pale and starting to get the symptoms of heat exhaustion. We stopped for water and gave her time and got on down the road. It was HOT. The kind of Hot where your riding through the desert and the wind is just blowing in your face and there is nothing to do but grit your teeth and squint.
Finally got home and my core temp was super high, so I jumped in the pool which was 83 degrees for 45 minutes and started to shiver a little. It was time to get out.
Looked at the days high temp? A RECORD HIGH of 117
My bike started to act weird at a red light where the parade function kicked on after about 4 seconds.
I didn't plan on riding in a record temp and I don't plan on it again. We rode 225 miles and I won't forget that day.

Was in Las Vegas once and it was 107. All I kept thinking was I have to keep drinking water or I'll dehydrate in a hurry. I can't imagine how fast the water would be sucked out of you at 60 or 70 mph.

Not to get off topic....but now you know what the military endures DAILY in the sandbox.
Fk'n SUCKS bad. I dread it every time I head over. 12 deployments so far...retirement means no more 120+ degree heat![Frown](https://www.hdforums.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I hope the girl is okay. Heat exhaustion is DEADLY serious. Have to make sure you stop alot when it's that hot out....good for the bike too.
You ought to see how hot in gets in the Badlands in August! Probably just like Tucson.![Frown](https://www.hdforums.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Yesterday, going through Deadwood (Hot August Nights hot rod event all weekend)...the traffic was LA rush hour miserable, and it was about 95 degrees out....bike continually going into limp mode....finally pulled over, pulled the dipstick out of it's hole and let her rest for about 15-20 minutes in the shade. Dropped 50-60 degree that fast!
Be careful...at that heat level, even the wind at speed feels like a hair dryer on high pointed at your face.
But hey...at least you were ridin'...right??
