My wife laughed becuase for the MSF course they say you have to wear Jeans or some similar build riding pants. Well I dont own Jeans I only own Dickies and am worried Ill get tehre and they will say nope sorry so I gotta buy some jeans. She finds this to be incredibly humorous.

Hmm, let me see. I ride to work anywhere between 3 and 4 am and live in the desert portion of California (isnt it all desert here?) so it can get into the high 30s in the winter but usually closer to mid to high 40s. The crazy thing is Ill be riding and the temperature will change literally 15 degrees in either directions through an area and the temp change is like hitting a wall.

During the day though its rarely colder then mid 50s in the winter and more often then not in the 60s so really never very cold. I think the warmest gear Ive ever worn was military Gore-tex pants ove BDU pants and long johns while on the top an undershirt, long john shirt, sweatshirt, military BDU blouse and then a normal year round riding jacket with liner in and was perfectly warm. Middle of winter at 3am which is the coldest time of the day.

We are planning to be in that area in January sometime. I need to know what to bring for warmth.

Thanks

Plan on 40 degree weather being the coldest and with luck a 75 or 80 degree days with no rain. If it was like last year it will be nice and warm but we do always run the risk of rain.
