The book says 36 front and 40 rear so that's exactly what I run. It works fine and I see no reason to experiment with different pressures.

manual says 40#rear/36# front on my '09 RKC.

Ride some with my 2 brother's and BIL (2 UC CVO's and a '08 SG) and they all require different psi's per their manuals. We have 2 '09 baggers and 2 softails (an '03 & '04) in this household and all 4 have different requirements.

Tells me it's best to go with your owners manual for your specific year/model unless you are one who runs a non-OEM tire and prefer to go with that manufacturer's recommendation. THAT's a whole 'nother argument for the tire zealots!

#1 cause for tire failure is under-inflation...another little factoid you may find interesting is most blow-outs are the rear-tire...usually a loaded bike and/or 2-up. I won't insult your intelligence by going into the "why's" of that.

You may not "feel" a difference, and you certainly won't be able to visually tell if a tire is low (unless it's REALLY low), but running a rear tire at 28 psi is risky business. I'd urge you to check your tire pressure more often...I'd hate for you or anybody to have a bike accident as a result of running too low a psi. Besides being safer, your tires will last longer!
