To answer your question, NO, H-Ds are as reliable as anything else out there. Good luck with the dealer fix... and of course, it should be FREE (unless you actually did run over something).

My '04 FLHRI doesn't have a limp mode so it just runs, and runs good, every time I've hit the starter button for the last 52K miles. My brother's carbureted '04 Heritage did the same for 90K miles before he traded for a Fattie this year. I'm sorry to hear about your trouble.

So U ran over a piece of metal and frigged something up and Ur saying U bike broke down...

Did U read in the owners manual where it said not to run over piece's of metal that can screw up Ur bike...

By the way broke down to me is when U have to push Ur bike or trailer it home..

And no its not normal,, 35k on our 07,,, NEVER once had she BROKE down...

Matter of fact, just last weekend we had our BIG charity ride of the yr. over 400 bikes in it. About 375 were Harley's.

Tolal of 4 Bikes broke down, during the 150 mile, 6 hr ride....
Guess what they were...

3 Honda's and 1 Suzuki had to be trucked

Plus about 15 out of the 20 or so Crotch rocket owners couldn't make it to end of the ride because of all the pains they where having and couldn't ride any longer.

I am trying to keep my sense of humor about this and its easy because breakdowns are just part of the Harley Experience as I have learned from these forums.
I decided against a extended warranty but now I am thinking maybe I should get it and the dealer did offer a discount and an extra year.

I guess this is just bad luck but the funny thing is when I was riding my new Harley I joked to myself about how long until the first breakdown?

HOW ABOUT ON THE FIRST FRICKIN DAY BITCH!! NICE!

Sorry just venting.
None here and I started buying HD's in 86.

150 miles in 6 hours?
Let's see ummm....divide by 6 carry the 3...ummm... that's a whooping 25 mph average.

The hondas and suzuki probably aren't used to putting along that slow.
My bike may or may not have overheated but I probably would have had to drop out on account of boredom.

Unless there was a lot of stopping parked somewhere, I would have rode off myself.

That is ****ed up, I have ran out of gas once, but other than that I haven't had a breakdown yet. If you leave it stock you should be able to get 100,000 miles pretty much trouble free out of it. If you start messing with it, then they can become unstable.

Damn no need to get defensive guys.
The dealer picked it up and hopefully the diagnostic codes will equal a quick fix.
Obviously anything and everything can break down so I am cool with things so far and hopefully I will have many trouble free miles down the road on this bike.
Thanks for the replies and I will post a pic soon.
