What keeps HD Resale so high???
#11
I've been doing alot of searching for a second bike while down here in Mexico, and I have seen 2005-7 hondas, Yammies and other metrics for a fraction of what they cost new. THE HD 's I've been looking at all seem to be very high priced, some even with high mileage and high price. Now Iam not complaining because I have an FLHTK at home in Boston, and when go to sell in the future it is nice to know that I can get a good buck for it, but what keeps their resale so high???
Hate to see you bring down your FLHTK to see it ripped off!

my bad. was going to get the plates and never did (had to look and see what i had on it after that post). it is insured as an antique though and the it was the agent who explained the not being the primary or riding it to work. working nites and been up all day. don't know what i was thinking. again my mistake.
i'd have sworn it had them.

Don't know about Mexico, but in the states Harley resale is the lowest I have ever seen it. You should have no problem finding a deal if you keep your eyes open, and do a weekend roadtrip.

had another thought to inject into this....don't know why I never thought of it.
You know how guys in here say "you never see Harley junk yards"
of course you do..........they're called "swap meets"

A couple reasons for this. The price of a NEW one is so ridiculous, what with bullshit fees & taxes, that's it's better to buy ALMOST new;let someone else take the depreciation hit. Also, you gotta put about 2Grand into a new Harley just to get it to run RIGHT, and that's usually already done by the time it is up for sale. So that adds to the price. Not to mention all the chrome & crap. Most foreign bikes are pretty much stock when people sell them.
