Default Bought a new tire today

Well I needed a new rear tire and I decided to take this forums advice and stay away from dunslop's. I'm happy I did. I bought an Avon Venom X AM42 rear tire.

Soon as I took off from the shop I could tell the difference. I felt glued to the road. Everything seemed to be better. Handling was better, grip was better, braking was ALOT better.

I just can't believe what a difference one good rear tire makes. I'm betting it will only get even better when the time comes to replace my front tire.

Any brand new rear tire will make you feel glued to the road. However, Avons are some nice tires, and have a Venom up front. The Avon Storm did NOT last very long on the rear, unfortunately.

YEP ! I replaced the dunlops on my Dyna with Avon Venoms and immediatly felt an improvement. Two years later, I replaced the Venoms with dunlops and again felt the improvement. With age - all tires get a little slick and do not grip the road as well as when they were new, regardless of the tred left on them. The reduced grip happens gradually so you do not notice it suddenly, but the new rubber provides sudden increased grip. Loved the venoms, but have no complaints with the dunlops either.

IMO...Avons are the best. I used to use Dunflops , but I find that I can get superior performance for a longer time with the Avons. Sure the Dunlops do last a long time , but the performance factor goes away much sooner than the Avons.

Dunlop Elite3 best tire I have tried to date.14,000 miles and going strong.6,000 was about it on all the others I have tried. Some were a little stickyer but I got tired of putting on a new back tire at every oil change.Glad you are happy with them.Hope you are still happy at 15,000 miles

Know that Avons need more air pressure than the stock dunlops. I run 42-44 in my rear Avon's wehn I run them and usually get about 10K out of each one. Vigilance pays off.

For me I'd rather have a tire that sticks and last 5,000 miles than one that doesn't stick as well and last longer.
