Are you a "biker" or just someone who enjoys riding?

I love riding and do so whenever I can. Gonna put about 18,000 miles on the bike this year. I don't look or dress like a biker. I ride wearing shorts when it's nice out. I just like to ride.

I believe that this site has two very specific memberships: motorcyclists and bikers. Which makes this site a lot more interesting than most. In my opinion it is not about years on HD, riding skills, or clothing.... it's about an attitude, a way of looking at things.
A motorcyclist:
Wears ATGATT and clucks about those who don't.
Has no issue whatsoever with motorcycle checkpoints or random stops and says stuff like "If you aren't doing anything wrong, who cares?"
When given the choice of either polishing up his bug-splattered motorcycle or going on a ride, will ALWAYS polish.
Asks permission from his "significant other" to ride.
Worries about what everyone else thinks about his attire, motorcycle and grooming.

I am what I am and its good enough for me.
If it irritates anybody, I don't give a ****.
I make more money than some, less than others. Ride what I want, when I can and who I chose to ride with. Usually wear clothes.
99.9% of the time a FF helmet too, though I'm against helmet laws. Prefer my bikes kinda quiet and hate flashy paint jobs even more than W.G. skulls.
Don't like to hang out at dealerships, bike nights and hardly ever go to biker bars.
Openly laugh at HOG, but respect PG.
Don't pledge anything. I'll help if and when I can and don't expect anything in return.
Usually don't wave, unless I'm passing you, but might nod my head if you wave first.
Want to ride with me? Prove that you can hang AND prove that I can count on you if **** hits the fan. Being a harley owner just ain't enough.
not sure what that makes me, but I'm OK without a label.

Being a biker is a fashion statement. Lots of bikers shop for their clothes at the HD dealership but don't ride. 75% of the floor space of my local dealership is devoted to apparel most of which is not technical motorcycle apparel for riding.
