PA backroads sorta suck

Pussies! I've been riding these roads with 10" short shocks, (basically like riding a rigid)........
Until a couple weeks ago when I told the GF that I had the original 12.75" shocks in a tote in the attic.

Yeah most of the back roads suck! It's either tar & chips or just plain gravel/dirt that builds up on the road and usually it's right at a sharp turn. I've been on roads that just feel like your riding over speed bumps one after another and others the are just too chewed up that it made me turn around. And how about them piles of horse **** or lumps of mud that falls off the tractors, lol! Nice ride out in the country....I'll pass!

I'm in SE pa too.. and we ride the eastern half of the state almost every weekend as well as making runs down through Delaware and Maryland. So yea, I agree we have probably more than our fair share of bad roads in eastern Pa but.. there also some really nice ones... 897, 841, 125, 45, 568, 663, rt 6, rt 287 north toward Wellsboro..rt 414.. not a fast road and not great asphalt but ride it south from Cross Forks, take your time and enjoy the scenery.. just outstanding.. a lot of rt 501, most of rt 82, a stretch of rt 30 west of Gettysburg, Gold Mine Road, parts of 443, the list goes on. ( probably it's like everywhere else, good roads and bad ones.. ) The worst thing for me is the oil and chipping.. it's a really cheap way, to try to seal and repair local roads and it doesn't work for s**t, just makes a mess of everything. After living here for so long.. the horse "residue" is just part of the scenery.. you get used to seeing it.. just ride around it and life goes on.. Deer are worse in some places than others.. but we are far from the only state with deer and wildlife issues. I'll also say I think we are worse off than both Delaware and Maryland.. Anyway, for us at least, here are enough good roads to at least hold our interest

Like others have said it's county to county. In the NE SR 903 in Monroe(poor co) could break an axle. Literally at the Carbon(richer co)line paved smooth and sealed. But there are some great rds SR 507,423 191 all well maintained rolling hills long sweepers. Just remember to add turkey & bear to the watch out for list
