Short commute hurting my scoot?
Sorry for the cheesy rhyme.
I've gone from a 20+ minute commute to less than 10 minutes. I'm letting the engine warm up a couple of minutes before I take for work (or for home), but it's just settling down to low idle about the time I pull into the parking lot.
I suppose I could take the long way in to work (and leave an hour early) But what I really want to know is whether short a short trip is hard on the engine.
Anybody? Anybody?

You bought the thing, ride it.
I have a 10 minute commute every morning, then I ride another half hour to work.
Like any other machine with short trips increase your oil change frequency.

Hell no it's not going to hurt your bike. My commute is less than 2 minutes and I ride it damn near every day. The engineers designed these bike to be rode, not worried about.
I don't even let it warm up and I'm full throttle down the road normally, oil flow and metal lives. Don't worry about it.

They say if you don't get your oil up to operating temp your not getting the condensation out which is made from a cold engine in cold weather started up and shut down before it had a chance to burn out the water. Happens in any engine and all you need to do is change it a little more often. That's what my daddy told me.
