One year ago today, my wife and I were in the back of an ambulance heading to the hospital after hitting a deer with our 07 ultra. I think one of the worst feelings in the world was laying on the side of the road knowing my back was broken and not being able to see if my wife was ok, as she lay about 20 feet away face down and not moving. The second thing I hope I'll never have to hear was the sound of my sons voice when the next day I called him and told him we had been in an accident. I ended up with 5 broken ribs back by my spine and some chipped vertebrae along with a severly bruised lung, momma had a pretty bad concussion ( thank God she was wearing a helmet) road rash and 10 staples in the back of her head. The bike was totaled, which we were doing around 50 when the deer jumped out in front of us. The new 010 we bought has about 6000 deer free miles on it and we still love to ride, we just avoid night riding. I'm really thankful that things didn't turn out any worst than they did and I hope you all stay safe and enjoy the ride.

Good to hear you are mending and back on the road. Could have been a lot worse for both of you...
Aussie riders generally don't ride at night either, especially in the countryside due to Kangaroos, wallabys and Wombats.

Glad to hear everyone's ok. I hit a deer about 4½ yrs ago with my 1100 Honda. Wasn't fun at all. Mine happened at 7:30 in the morning, so remember, Deer aren't only out at night..

Thankfully you are able to type the experience. Never had any contact with Bambi, but sure dont want to either. I live on a country road, lots of fields and open areas. Try like heck not to ride after dark, but as fall approaches, it gets harder and harder not to.

I can only imagine the kinda bad feeling it was to not be able to check on your wife. Good to see you back on the road making new memories with her!
We limit our night time riding on back roads also...cept the 7 miles between the interstate and our house.

Last yr I was coming out of Payson, AZ and something caught my eye in the mirror, it was 4-5 Elk. Never saw them when I went pass the area. Oh ya it was around 2 in the afternoon.
