I ahve a stock 1985 fxst with cycle shack muffler pipes,my problem is with the s&s Carburetor. When the bike is warmed up and ideling when i crack the throttle it hesitates,if I roll the throttle is't fine I would like to get rid of this hesitation when i crack the throttle.the carb has the jets that were installed when i bought the carb,I know the intermitent jet is a .0295 but not sure what the main jet is.Other than this problem the bike seems to run fine.I would like to beable to crack the throttle and have it respond like it should without the hesitation,i have setup the carb just like the instructions say to do,if i crack the throttle with the enricher on it doesn't hesitate i have set the idel and the fuel pump like the instructions say. Thanks for any help

I had a problem like that once. The manifold had a small inlet that was closed off with a rubber cap. (vacuum inlet for some reason)
Anyway one day it must have blown off when it blew back through the carburetor. just looking I didnt notice it so I went to work on the carb to find out later it was sucking in air through the little inlet on the manifold.
S&S has a good trouble shooting guide on their website for their carburetors.

Accelerator pump, or debris in the main jet. Usually that is what causes a stumble or hesitation.

all you need to do is set the accelerator pump , easy to do . I can post it here or pretty sure S&S has on line directions.
I run that carb on both our bikes , if the throttle just wont crack , thats all it is don't mess with the jets............

Try backing out the accelerator pump screw until it doesn't bog...I've got a 1996 Flstc with .0295 mid jet, so that shouldn't be far off...main jet shouldn't really affect throttle crack. I'm running 076 on my main and it's the easiest to check

Definitely Accelerator pump: Warm the bike and slowly turn the screw for the pump counter-clockwise until the bike won't accelerate when you blip it. Then go clockwise while blipping the bike 1/4 turn at a time until you get a smooth pull.
(You can see the pump's squirt in the manifold as you're doing it.)
