Heated gear
I know a lot of people recommend Gerbing heated gear.
but is there other stuff out there that you might recommend.
we don't have a dealer near me that carries the Gerbing brand and I had to buy something without seeing it especially $400 worth of clothing.
( jacket, gloves, controller etc.. )
Any thoughts ?

Gerbings is recommended here probably 90% of the time or more for a good reason. I bought all of mine off the internet and had no problems. The Gerbings sizing charts are your friend.

Tourmaster makes a great line of heated gear. We have used if for years and if it works in ND, it really works!

Widder made some good stuff too. They closed down but you can get a lot of their stuff off the iron butt association (IBA) website. I have one of their vests and it works well.
Lots of good products to choose from. Although it may be hard for you to do, fittmant is key. Like all motorcycle specific clothing, make sure it fits comfortably under your jacket. Go and put it on, put your jacket over it, zip it all up and then go sit on your motorcycle and ask yourself if you could ride like that for 10 hours. Crank the bars back lock to lock, turn your head back and forth, up and down. See if the shoulders bind or your armpits are squeezed. If the answer is no to the fit, keep looking and trying other stuff. Try and find the ones that are not bulky as bulk makes it difficult to move around with your leathers on. I bought the Powerlet because it is thin. Two years later Gerbing came out with their thin jacket liner.
Lastly, try your rainsuit on over everything to make sure that fits too. On more than one occasion I have been caught in the cold rain and the heated liner kept me warm, the jacket kept the heat in and the rain suit kept it all dry.
