Default two up touring..softail or dresser?

read in another thread that some here are of the opinion the softtails do not make a good choice for two up touring...I was personally thinking about a Heritage Classic in the spring, but, the majority of my riding is with my wife on the back, and I want to take some long road trips, as well...any comments or feedback would be appreciated....thnks, lestele

Have no fear - my Heritage makes a fine touring platform. Is there better? Yes - an ElectraGlide makes a better touring platform for a variety of reasons. But a Heritage, with good non-stock seats, will perform quite well, and have the added benefit of being a stylish boulevard cruiser when the touring is done. JMHO.

I agree the Heritage is a fine Softail touring platform. I have spent a lot of dollars trying to turn my Deluxe into a Heritage, since I ride two up with the wife most of the time.

The road king or Ultra Classic would be a better choice if you like those bikes. I had no choice, I am 5'6" and needed the lower seat height to feel comfortable with keeping both feet flat on the ground when stopped.

yep!long hauls your probally more comfortable on a touring model, but as far as a good touring /cruiser/solo cross over machine you can't beat an heritage classic imho

hey i probably can help you out on this one since i own a 04' heritage and now also a 07' ultra
1st let me say this i love my heritage and thats why i now have 2 bikes!
2nd my wife and i do alot of 2up riding (she just rather be on the back) we put 20k on the 04' and it wasn't all around town we did some long distance rides from s.jersey to coastal n.c 1325 miles round trip,w.va. tenn. mtns of pa. etc. we put alot of hours and miles on it and loved every minute.
3rd. after 3 years of touring this way we decided to take the plunge and do the geezer glide and after our 1st trip to va. aprrox.700 mi.round trip i asked her if she found it more comfy her reply was only 1 complaint she kept falling asleep!!!! so now i ride the heritage solo and we only 2up on the ultra!
final answer is: if you are going to do mostly 2up long distance= spend the xtra $ you won't be sorry!
if you are doing 2up with mostly short rides= go with the heritage it will do anything you ask it to do! just replace the stock pillion with a wider one and add passenger floorboards it will increase comfort 90% hope this helps!

I have the same deal with my wife. She says, "With the way it cradles you in the backseat, I keep wanting to go to sleep!"

Maybe it is the color?

Nice looking Ultra cunfuzed!
