Pretty tough to beat the Hearoes brand. Been using them for years.

 

I've been through a bunch of different styles. The local audiologist only charges $85 for custom fitted one made for motorcycle use. They kill the sound very well but sometimes I get a booming sound just walking around or at idle. The foam ones work but sometimes they can be a little hard to get to fit plus you have to hold them for about 30 seconds as they expand. That's what I'm using though because they're comfortable.

The only ones that didn't work for me were ventilated ear plugs. I paid another $85 with the audiologist to get custom fitted ventilated earplugs. You might as well not have any earplugs so that money was wasted.

What actually did the most good was replacing the exhaust on my 2010 Road King with stock muffers from a 2009. Something about the design is different and the bike is much quieter.

 

After trying a number of different earplugs that you all suggested, I have settled on SureFire Sonic Defender EP3's. Very comfortable on long rides and with the plug I can close off completely or let some of the sound in.

I like the ear plugs for swimming as the isolate much more of the wind noise. The ones I have are similar to these. Got them at the drug store.
