Dyna vs Thunderbird

The most recent post before yours is one year old already. This is an old thread. I wonder how the new Triumphs are.

Why would you even compare rice (Yes, the Triumph is rice) to a Harley. Dynas are beautiful. The Triumph is a dog. I would consider a REAL Bonneville, not the new Asian one,as a 3rd or 4th bike.
Nothing compares to a Harley, except maybe a Boss Hoss. Now THERE'S a sled!!

All of the Thunderbird's are made in the fairly new plant in England. The Thai production are the smaller bikes.
Triumph is a privately owned company. One guy owns it. He didn't come from cycling but has an ability to pick out the good ideas presented to him.
Triumph is a small manufacturer but makes more models than larger company's.
The number of dealers is not too important. BMW does not have many dealers in the US and that doesn't diminish the number of buyers. Ural has very few dealers. Two years ago a Ural rider on the Alaskan Highway went into a mud puddle and it turned out to be a 18" deep pot hole that bent the drive shaft to the side car.
He called a dealer and the parts were flown in promptly.
With today's communication systems, you are rarely out of touch. Harley has more dealers BUT never in history have they had such a problem with having stuff in stock and long back orders. So the number of dealers might not help as much as you think.

BTW, someone mentioned the "smaller" Triumphs being assembled in thailand. That's only partially true. SOME bonneville's are assembled in thailand, but not all of them.
There's no way I'm buying a speedmaster that's been assembled anywhere but the UK, I can tell you that for sure.

I certainly don't think the Thunderbird would be under powered compared to a Harley and it's a nice bike. However, I've always said park any metric cruiser next to a Harley and they just don't compare well. In my eyes the Harley always looks better.
