Default Helmet security

If you ride with a helmet: what do you do to secure it to your ride? I've seen 'D'-locks which I think use the strap D-ring, but I can't see this being very secure. Also seen plastic-housing Master locks with a retractable cable, but a plastic housing? Any better solutions? Thanks

The helmet was designed to be worn on your head, it will not protect your bike

I just leave my on my seat.

If someone wants a 4xl half helmet just take it....

Better the helmet than the bike.

I don't lock mine and have never had a problem. In a similar thread some time back somebody mentioned using a gun lock, the kind that come with most/all new handguns.

all locks do is keep honest people honest. If I travel to a state with a helmet law, I hang it on the the brake pedal. No lock.

If I need to worry about locking my helmet to my bike I'd be asking myself if I really want to be in that area.

I bought a small cheap lock and a length of plastic coated cable from Ace Hardware and made my own. It is just long enough to go through my helmet and attach to my sissy bar.
It's not that my helmet is that expensive I just don't want to have to go through the hassle of getting another if someone happens to walk away with my it.

A helpful answer! Good idea too. I've got plenty of these. Thanks

It depends. If it's my old battered HJC half helmet I hang it on the right grip. If it's my $220 Shoei RJplatinum it goes into the restaurant with me and sits on the seat beside me. If I'm at Walmart it rides in the shopping cart while I shop. Same with my $500 Fox Creek leather jacket.

The odds of it being stolen are directly proportionate to how much the helmet costs and to how much you can afford to replace it.
