welded head??
Hi, Took my twin cam head to a harley dealer to have a valve guide pressed in. While they were working on it, the seat shattered, and put a crack in the port. They want to weld it, and my question is..is this a good idea?? and can it be trusted?? Should I just buy a new head? Thanks for your input!!

I think the dealer should be responsible for giving you a new head.

I agree, they broke it, that should not have happened. AND no, I would not weld a head plain and simple

Just wondering if it was a Dealer, Independent or machince shop that broke the head.
Interesting how this plays out with more info. How old is the head.
Most stock heads are not that expensive to buy a new one.

Did you drive out the old guide yourself before taking it to the dealership?

Welding a head to repair it? No, just no.
Besides if I break something while fixing something I'm responsible for fixing both. If that made sense.
