1962 ironhead xlch bosch voltreg.to generator
i have a 62 sportster 12volt system,no battery. where does the field wire go off the generator. i have an old bosch regulator five post does it go to DF or B+ right now i have it going to DF but i just got a used generator 65A and regulator was still hooked up and they have it going to B+ whats the right way. this also has a blue can hooked into system to stabilize voltage.

im getting a little lost on whats going on....very well could be me...but you should post this in the ironhead section.--Go down towards the bottom of this page where it says forum jump then scroll through til you find the ironhead section.----You will find all the help and answers to anything ironhead there without a doubt.

not sure on your ride, how the power system was wired but the field windings used to need 12 volt power sent to them to excite them. as a result, they would begin generating output power. If this is the case with yours, you might be looking for the wire that shows 12 volts when your ignition is switched to run.
