I'm always amazed at how people think they can take a part, like a tire, which has years of engineering and design from highly qualified people and some how make it better by taking an exacto knife to it. haha.

All you will accomplish is a tire that shakes at high speed just before it blows apart. And that's all you need a tire failure at high speed, you won't even know what happened.

I haven't noticed if my bike goes faster......after I change my tires, or if it goes faster with worn tires.
But what weighs more? 40 pound per square inch or 30 lbs? (ten pounds makes my bike wobble).
Went to wal mart. Told the woman I wanted to shave my tires bald. She told me I should try a schick triple razer.

When I was a Marine stationed down South back in the '80's, there used to be a tire place near Camp LeJeune that would "microshave" a new tire installed on your rim before balancing it. The result: a perfectly symmetrical wheel that used less weight.

Your bike will appreciate that, too. You might have to make some suspension adjustments to compensate.

Tires already wear out to fast as it is, if you want lighter tires, ride it, every mile should help them get lighter. And to think, I was wishing they would add more tread to get me farther.

Ok, I got the tires off but my pocket knife is taking way too long to shave the rubber off and the tire is looking like one of them knobby off road tires. does harley sell a screaming eagle tire lathe. My neighbor has a industrial belt sander and he volunteered to help after he finishes his 12 pack of beer, says it helps him think better

I think you'd be better off pulling all your teeth out and amputating unnecessary fingers and toes to save weight. Clearly the brain has already been left safely at home. That adds up to a better weight saving. Oh - and get circumcised too. Those benefits will work for you whatever bike you ride.

Come on guys, if you want a fast and/or quick bike, you are riding the wrong thing. Harleys are not racers!!!!

The thought has never entered my mind. I'm more interested in getting where I want to go alive and in one piece than getting there fast. Guess I slowed down as I got older.
