Custom built seats

Pretty simple. Took mine apart, carved it where I wanted it changed and installed gel pads. Use an electric carving knife on the seat foam. Very easy do-it-yourself project.

I bought an extra stock seat and backrest. I took them to a local bodyshop where I have done business before. The interior guy cut down the seat and put in some memory foam. I think it looks great and I feel more comfortable on the seat.

its my understanding that gel isn't really all that it's cracked up to be. it holds the heat in the summer, the cold in the winter, and it doesn't compress at all so you end up with 'hot spots'
this is just second hand info as i have never done any distance on a seat with gel. ymmv

I just read a thread on this forum last night that covers exactly what your asking for. If you back out of this section and scroll down toward the bottom were there is a section with all the forums sponsors you will find Mean City Cycles. I think there was only 3 or so threads so it shouldn't be hard to find. Any way, one of there customers brought in a seat to be redone and photographed the whole procedure. Lots of pics with comments and the owner of the business even posts later to explain what he had done. Should help you out. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
