Default No more free parts book?!

Was at the dealership today, bought some stuff and asked for a 2012 parts book. Parts guy says "no more free parts books" You get one free if you buy a new bike otherwise you have to pay for them now. WTF!

You can download a PDF version from Harley-Davidson.com, hope this helps as it is the only way to get it free.

The "parts" book has never been free. The Accessories catalog is a different story.

I can understand. I'm sure that accessories book costs a small fortune by the time you figure in the time involved in photographing every part, putting the book together, printing it, and shipping it. I wouldn't be surprised if they have $25 or more invested in each book.

cam someone clarify the difference between the parts book and the accessories book?

I know companies like custom chrome etc. charge $20 for their catalog. Other online places it's free. I imagine just to print something the size of a phone book and shipping would cost some $, but in the end it helps their business.

What company in their right mind would want some mod crazy guy, sitting around having a few drinks with his credit card out, looking through a "free" parts book? He may go in debt buying **** if he had that book!

COME ON!!!!!!!!

I guess I have never seen a free harley parts book. I know the accessories book has always been free. With the internet, not sure why anyone would pay for any parts book.

The two Vermont Dealers I frequent still give them to you for the asking. They just said that they don't automatically mail them to you any longer.
