I use an HJC with a face shield. I tried a Shoei and the shape was too round for me. Even though you can get them cheaper online, I'd suggest going to a big motorcycle dealer and trying on several helmets to get one that fits well.

I'd buy at that dealer for the first one, and then buy online for any replacement helmets.

I got mine online for $187 delivered, so look around cuz some sites are over $200.
What he said. I ride in a Shoei RJ Air and am quite satisfied with it. Shoei gets my vote.

Check out AFX:

Well constructed with nice features and reasonably priced. I use a discontinued model and like it so much I bought another when they were discounted for clearence so I have one as a back-up.
The OL has a HJC IS-33 and likes it a lot.

If you don't care about DOT then get an ACC Headtrip 3/4 carbon fiber. I've had mine for about a year and I love it. Technically it's a novelty helmet but its not your typical novelty. It is made of real carbon fiber/kevlar and does have a good amount of padding but still fits very low profile. Light and comfy. I usually wear a FF helmet but when temps are 95+ I wear my ACC.

Check out the video on their website where they run over one of their helmets with a hummer and it doesn't even break.

I have the Shoei RJ Platinum and find it very comfortable. Revzilla is great to deal with as well.
