MC Crash

Motorcycle crash leaves two dead, puts three in hospital

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Two people are dead and three people are in the hospital after a motorcycle crashed into a car early Friday morning. As a result, police had to close the intersection of 10th Street and Meridian Avenue as they investigate the accident.

According to a witness, a man on a motorcycle picked up a woman after work and took off, traveling at a speed of over 100 miles per hour. Upon seeing he was about to be pulled over by police, the driver sped up and fled, crashing into a Ford Taurus at 10th Street and Meridan Avenue.

The Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle T-boned into the car at such a high speed it sent the motorcycle flying three quarters of a block. Because the riders were traveling so fast , the helmets they had on did nothing to save their lives. "He had a need for speed and, unfortunately, that need for speed killed him tonight," said Detective Robert Hernandez of the Miami Beach Police.

Police say the 21-year-old driving the motorcycle only had a commercial license, not a motorcycle license. "Right now we know that the driver shouldn't have been on the road. He was driving with a business pupose-only driver's license," said Hernandez, "as well as having had DUI in May of 2006. His motortcycle was also rigged for high speed."

All three people from the car were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The motorcycle driver died on impact and his 19-year-old passenger, whose 20th birthday would have been today, died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

This is the kind of stuff that gives us all a black mark!!!
Shame about the girl. Today was her 20th birthday......[]

Does not give me a black mark, just as the f'n killer cagers blowin red lights and hitting people does not reflect on my driving.

And I will not ever buy into the mindset that 1 makes the stereotype of the many. For every dumbass rider there are 100s of responsible ones.

Too bad for the passenger and I hope the Taurus occupants were not injured, but the idiot squid was due for the natural selection hook, so good riddance.

yeah that whole incident sucks and the fact that people see that and judge all bikes because of one person sucks too. People don't realize that not everyone is the same but will lump people in groups and if they are not ethnic groups its ok. Stupid all around.

Id say it reflects on sportbike riders if anyone at all, but it also brings into play the police and their need to chase people down, this time the runner wrecked and killed himself and passenger, all to often its innocent people the police hit and kill in these chases. If they had not chased him, the wreck might not have happened.

And if the criminal had stopped none of this would have happened. The fault is 100% on the squid that did the running.

For sure it was his fault, speeding is a crime, but if not pursued maybe they would not have had to pay for it with their lives. In atlanta last year there were 4 cases where police in pursuit had wrecks with innocent people causing many deaths. They are no longer able to chase unless they are trying to catch violent criminals.

Why the hell should anyone care of these dirtbags die? Somehow it should be OK to let them do these things so their worthless lives can be spared? Horsecrap. I know the police are being forced to change their policies. It is b/c of bleeding heart pansy asses that think it a shame the cops try to stop a criminal while the criminal is risking their lives.

I feel bad for the gir's family. 19 year old girl killed over pure stupidity and they'll
be living with this every day for the rest of their lives. This is the stuff you worry
about when your kids are heading off to college. Very sad.
