Wow...that article sure was "eye opening".
The Wiley X are really good if you need prescription glasses. I don't, so I wear the cheap polycarbonate riding glasses available at my dealer. They are very comfortable and fit me well. I got a pair of dark ones for the sun and a pair of clear smoked ones for at night. When they get too scratched or if they get lost, I can just go buy another pair for less than $10. Sunglasses, lighters, pens, and watches are things that I do not pay a lot for because they are easily lost or damaged.
Other than than the Wiley X, you shouldn't pay a lot for sunglasses. They are almost all made by one company: Luxottica.

I used Serengetti Drivers polarized for a long time until they changed frame styles. Too bad because the glass is perfect. Then switched to Persol. I like them and they look great. I like Maui Jim glass but not the frames - purely subjective.
I need glass lenses - I can't see thru plastic. Plus usually, if you get glass, you get quality. Now that a full tank of gas in my Yukon runs $100, $200 for sunglasses doesn't seem so bad.
Persols that can be had online for $150 w/free shipping

Go to ebay, search "dark lens" ... pick a style and there ya go.. I got about 5 pair all together, I can always have a spare pair or 2 with me in case I lose or break a pair and I didn't break the bank getting them. More money for gas this way
Just mu $0.02

Ray Ban Wayfarers, had the same pair over 30 years and they are still in perfect condition optically.
Big enough lens and sits close to cheek to keep out wind.
30 years old and back in style again after the Miami Vice period.
