Default another win for the good guys (us)!

i didn't see this posted anywhere, but if it is, i apologize in advance for duplicating it.... hope more states follow suit.

and if you're one of 'those' that don't have a problem with motorcycle only checkpoints, please, i ask with all respect, STFU .....

NORTH CAROLINA PROHIBITS MOTORCYCLE-ONLY CHECKPOINTS

“HB 381 an Act to Prevent Law Enforcement Agencies from establishing
patterns for vehicle stops at checking stations based on a particular type
of vehicle is now Session Law 2011-216,” reports Doc Ski, legislative
director for CBA/ABATE of North Carolina and a member of the National
Coalition of Motorcyclists Legislative Task Force (NCOM-LTF).

The legislation passed unanimously through both houses of the legislature,
and was signed into law on June 23 by Governor Beverly Perdue, making North
Carolina the second state in a month behind New Hampshire to enact such laws
in response to NHTSA funding of motorcycle-only checkpoints to stop
motorcyclists en route to major biker events to check equipment and
paperwork.

This bill, sponsored by Rep. John A. Torbett (R-Stanley), provides that a
vehicle checkpoint pattern designated by a law enforcement agency shall not
be based on a particular vehicle type and must include all types of
vehicles, but does not restrict any other type of checkpoint or roadblock
which is otherwise lawful.

In addition to preventing motorcycle-only roadblocks, Governor Perdue also
signed HB 113 to increase the minimum penalties for violating the right of
way of a motorcyclist. The previous fine for this infraction was a mere
$25, but this bill sponsored by Rep. Ric Killian (R-Raleigh) calls for a
$200 fine for a driver who causes a motorcyclist to leave his travel lane.
The fine is increased to $500 if there is property damage or personal injury
sustained from this violation.

I wouldn't expect much out of these bills. Law enforcement will just start establishing check points for all vehicles. If the police want to get into your business than they will find a way to get into your business; it's going to happen one way or another. The second bill is all fine and dandy if there is a police officer right there when the offense occurs. The only way I see this law being used is if there's either personal or property damage that results in an accident investigation. If states want to make the roads safer than stop giving driver's licenses to idiots. This is a very small step in the right direction, but I have to call this as I see it - Another piece of crap politician grandstanding to get votes.

Elections are coming up. Republicans and Democrats will be coming around like locust to kiss our asses and tell us what we want to hear so we'll do something stupid like elect them. Had one literally trip over himself trying to get away from the front door when my dog, an American bulldog, charged at him. She's a big sweetheart, but her bark would make you think otherwise. She's also good as a bible thumper deterrent as well; they don't come around anymore.

At least it is a start.

Screw everybody, not just the motorcycle rider. Maybe when it happens to everyone, more people will speak out.
