Food for thought
My 2 sons...15 and 13 recently began talking about what kinda car they wanted to drive when they hit the big 16....out of nowhere came this...I would like this sportster or that dyna or etc....
I was reminded of the time when I was 17 and bought...(with my dad cosigning)... a used Suzuki 750..Vetter fairing and all. He asked what I was going to do when it rained, of course I said...get wet. I did get the bike. All of a sudden Im getting scared and worried and all that about my boys actually riding. I imagine this is all normal and everything and I cant help but wonder how my dad actually felt about me buying a bike as my 1st vehicle.

Ha! Shoe is on the other foot now! I corrupted both of my sons who now have their own Harleys. Both are in their late 30's. I don't think I could have handled them on motors in threi teens. Good luck!!

My son had a dirt bike when he was young but sold it when we moved to a place he couldn't ride close by. When he was about 15 he started eyeing my 650 Yamaha so I sold it!! Five or 6 years back, after I retired, I got back on a bike; and, last month (@ the age of 34) he called to say he now has a Volusia (after taking the MFS class). Can't say I'm thrilled, with him living in the DFW area; but it is his life and I know my parents worried about me riding.

I think that it's natural for a parent to be concerned about what their kids do. I remember getting unhappy at times with my dad. Now that I have been a parent for quite a while, I find myself doing some of the same things to our kdis that my folks did to me. Interesting how things tend to repeat themselves.

although my daughter is only almost two. I think it would be awsome to one day hand her the sportster. how cool would that be for her to be probly the only chic riding a bike to high school.

My daughter (17 yrs old) just totalled her car a few weeks ago. I'm thinking for her next mode of transportation either Scwinn or Huffy.

My daughter is 17 and she is actually wilder than my two boys. She has a Toyota that was given to her by her Grandmother, but what she really wants is a Harley. Something in the Softail line would be nice, but she could make do with a 1200 Sporty she thinks. LOL I told her right after I was finished paying for her college education I'd get her one of her choice.
Of course by then she'll probably be taking care of me
