many helmts (higher end) have a button on the buckle and on the tip of the strap. Once you are done synching it down, you just button together and bam - no more slack.

the red strip on the buckle is to help loosen the d-rings more easily. i have to admit i've never used it.

Yes, the Vega has the snap you are refering to. I'm going to be using the helmet with a quick disconnet though. Easier to just tuck away or get rid of the slack for my current use. The Vega isn't bad by the way. Sits lower and closer to my head than the Daytona and quite a few others I tried, who claimed to be the lowest profile. This one didn't make those claims, but it is so far, the lowest of all. The flat as opposed to the gloss black, also makes it appear lower yet. So far so good!

I don't recommend using a quick disconnect. You don't want it quick disconnecting if your head hits the pavement. The quick disconnect add on hasn't been tested for safety. How long does it take to put it through the loops? Are you saving so much time?

The one I will be using is approved, and meets all of the various safety standards.

Not the same helmet, but I added velcro to my excess strap when I put the quick disconnect on. Not sure why you need pics, just sew the two parts of the velcro on to the two parts of the strap you want to hold together.

[QUOTE=nevil;8566508]I know you said you don't want to cut it and I used to be reluctant to do that. But now if I get a helmet with excess strap I just cut it and fuse the end with heat.

This is what I do to.
