Default Trailer help

Ok don't beat me up. I'm in the military and am about to move to Colorado. I have 2 bikes, a Softail and a Dresser. I'm looking into getting a 6x12 open trailer. I want to put the bikes side by side instead of staggered. I was just wondering if anyone has done this before and could give me some measurements of where to put the wheel chocks. Plus the bikes won't be the only thing on the trailer so that's why I'm getting one so big.

With these two bikes you will honestly be better off with a 7x12 with you wanting to have them side by side as they will still move around a bit even in a chock and you do not want them rubbing each other.

I know this as I have my Glide and my wife has an 08 Heritage.

Good luck with your move and from one former service member...Thank you for your service to our country.

Just hauled mine when I transferred this last OCT. 6x12 might be to narrow. If it's open trailer or you have one bike in backwards and the other forward could work. You have have to stagger them 6 inches to a foot to clear the bars. But here's my 7x14 enclosed to give you an idea. Hopefully someone with two bikes can chime in.

And with the final HHG for my Dity

Oh and I don't know your budget but I recommend a tandem trailer. I went cross country with a single axle (not with the bike luckily) and it sucked ***. This tandem I have now with brakes kicks ***. The cross country trip back it didn't feel like the trailer was back there other then the shear lack of acceleration with my dinky 350ci.

And good luck with the move.

With a Softail and a Dresser, I'd recommend a bigger trailer. I have a 6x12 trailer, and I've loaded many bikes on there. I regularly haul my Dyna and my wife's Softail together, and I can get them side by side, but I have to overhang the sides with a grip and footpeg on each side. I also don't use chocks, but I have eyelets bolted to the trailer bed for tie downs.

I've hauled both bikes over 800 miles on the trailer with no problems.
