Changing 2011 Fat Bob rear fender -
I caught a few posts from last year about using a 2011 Dyna Wide Glide rear "chopped" fender in place of the stock 2011 Fat Bob "bobtail" fender - I was hoping this was a simple switch. I asked the mechanics at my local HD and after seeing looks of bewilderment in their eyes, I spent the next 30 minutes listening to them talk about how difficult this would be, if even possible at all. Can anyone give me an idea if this is a simple "switch," or am I looking at multiple modifications? Thanks!

I don't know if the 11 models are much different from anything 2006-2009, but it should be a relatively easy chop. Everything can be replaced, it sounds like your local HD just wants your money.
Look at the fender, look at where it bolts on, what has to be unbolted, how you can take your lights out, all that fun stuff. It shouldn't be hard.

Thanks! I'm thinking if they wanted my money, they'd tell me it can be done and then charge a lot of labor hours. They seemed more interested in trying to talk me out of it, which is why I thought it might be a difficult task. I'll take your advice and check those things out.

Someone will come along eventually who has done it. Fenders are swapped out all the time so I don't see how it couldn't be done, it's not like it's welded to the frame.

I switched to a CVO fender, on my 08 FatBob, I bought off Ebay. It's all nuts and bolts and someone with mild wrenching experience, should be able to do it.
If the new fender doesn't come with the wiring and case, don't reuse the case, without using new adhesive(I used Gorilla glue).
