He died with his boots on for what he believed in

Here I think your wrong... unless he wore tennis shoes he did die with his boots on and did so in an event that he supported and fully knew what the consequences would be. No hero, yes a statistic, and fighting for what he believed in "freedom" and for your information Philip A. Contos served in the US Army.
And if you would like to thank his family for his service here is a link to the guest book:

I wear a helmet 90% of the time. (DOT half helmet) But I do not agree with helmet laws. I wear mine by CHOICE. The reason I started to wear a helmet was born almost 8 years ago and that DECISION was reinforced with the birth of my second child. I didn't do it cause it makes me feel safer or anything like that. I did it cause neither of my life insurance policies would pay a dime if I get killed riding without a helmet on. So I just had to get used to it.
But on the subject at hand. Do any of you really think that he would have gone out that day if he knew he was going to die? Lets say there was a guy who had the power to end all helmet laws, and he says to the group of you guys "I will do away with all helmet laws, and all that will take is one of you to step forward put this gun to your head and pull the trigger." How many of you would intentionally die right then and there to give that right to the rest? Not too many I'm guessing. And although I can't say he wouldn't have, I will say that its seriously doubtful. Especially knowing that his death would hurt the cause more than help it.

Nicely done and very enlightening. BUT as bad as I feel for him/you/and his family i don't believe he'd be gone if he was wearing a helmet. I'd like to have seen how he dressed to go hunting! IF he took precautions and dressed accordingly.. My heart goes out to you all but in my heart i feel it could've been avoided. Yes i've always worn a helmet and always will..
God bless and take care...
