One of my customers has one of those in his barn that has never had civilian registration. He bought it and a jeep at a war surplus acution at WPAFB when they were making the switch from the Army Air Corps to the USAF.
Old Flatties are great for conversation starters and fun to look at. Mine always gets attention at parades and "cruise-ins" on the town square. However, for serious riding, not so good. Feeble brakes, less than leisurely acceleration and very limited ground clearance with 16" wheels make if less than ideal for urban riding. I rode this one to Milwaukee and back for the 100th and it just about wore me out with the maintenance every night.
