All softails came with a nice adjusting wrench, but for some reason they get discarded... Your HD dealer will have a more 'basic' wrench for a couple of bucks and the trick is to find a good adjustment level... for when you are riding by yourself...
I never got the wrench... [:@]

Cheers!

Howdy Clammy, don't feel too bad, I didn't get one either. If I did, I sure can't find it.

Thanks for all the information about passenger riding. While I have ridden many thousands of miles as a passenger myself, I have been a bit worried about being the driver WITH a passenger. All this information makes sense and I will put it into practice.

I've got a new Fat Boy that I have put 850 miles on in the last month.

This is the sum total of my riding experience.

My wife wants very much to get on there and go places with me and I've been
stalling because I want to make sure that I'm 100% comfortable with the bike and riding in general
before I add a passenger into the equation.
The questions I have are:

1. How much experience is recommended before taking passengers?
2. What differences can I expect (other than the obvious more weight = slower acceleration) and pitfalls should I
be prepared for?
I don't know if you have a sissy bar on the back, but I've even heard of people loading up a T-bag or duffle bag and strapping it to sissy bar to "practice" riding with extra weight before taking on a rider.

Went to Sam's Club the other week. I was looking for rice and found the type I like...but it only came in 50lb. bags. Wasn't sure where to store it. Now I know. I can put it on my T-Bag and ride around with it for the 5 years it will take me to use op 50 lbs. of rice, Art

Two up riding is/was a real experience. Started with stock seat on softail deuce.
Backrest/sissy bar is a must. She basically tried to climb on my back while riding without it.
The stock seat also was not comfortable for her. I got the HD sundowner with touring backrest.
It is much better now but still hurts her butt.

I remind her everythime that the pipes get HOT. She is getting better at not burning her boots.
Slow manuvers is the hardest to get used to. Left hand gets worn out from pulling the clutch.

Insist that they wear sunsreen. I suggested it two different times the same day and she got a pretty good sunburn.

CM do you have a easy boy clutch from White Bros? If not, this unit would help you on the clutch hand problem.

Hell. I didn't know about the suspension being adjustable, either!!!! [:-] All my manual stated was to "increase rear tire pressure to 40psi" when riding a passenger.

Wrenches?...I ain't got no stinking WRENCHES! [>:]

Still have the stock clutch/lever. It is not bad enough to dump the $$$ into it yet.
I am happier putting the $$$ in the tank.
