Ultimately i figured i will end up keeping it in my bag, because having it handy is more important to me than having a bit of extra, probably unused space in a bag.

But there have been some great tips in here!

I especially like the idea of a compression sack. To the poster that gave that suggestion, can you let me know what size sack you would recommend for some XXL gear? (pants, jacket, maybe gloves/boot liners)

I guess if i go with anything larger than a "Small" sack, i risk it not fitting into the saddle bag altogether, am i right?

We keep our Overpass II rain gear in a T Bag roll bag. Depends on where we are going and how long we will be riding. Day trips in the saddle bags or on the sissybar/luggage rack. Overnight it clips to the top of our Rte 66 T Bag for easy access.

 

Lay your rain gear out flat on the floor. Fold the pants over onto itself. Starting with the foot end, roll as tight as you can, squeezing out the air as you roll. If you start from the top, by the waist band, your roll will be larger.

Fold the sleeves of the jacket across the front. Fold the jacket onto itself. Roll from the bottom side, squeezing out the air as you go. If you start with the top, by the collar, your roll will be larger.

You will end up with two tight rolls that will easily fit side by side in the bottom of a saddlebag, taking up very little room.

Remember, rain gear only works if you put it on before it starts raining !

 

I use a compressible sack, like you can get from an outfitter, and keep it all in a saddlebag.
