Made It To Alaska - Arctic Circle Run Today

I have to echo what others have said about the Dalton highway from Fairbanks north to Deadhorse. A friend of mine riding a BMW Adventure left Deadhorse a week ago headed to Key West. He has 40 years of riding experience and averages over 35K miles a year. He said this was the most intense, potentially dangerous road he has ever traveled. From the changing weather, gravel, mud, trucks, etc. you must stay continually focused to stay safe.
If you decide to continue on to Prudhoe Bay, be very careful and ensure you take with you all those things others have talked about, just in case.

Good write up Scott. Sorry I missed you last Monday, I so badly wanted to ride with you and Hester for a ways but work got in the way... again.
Good luck on the rest of your journey and let us know your return route on the map, I'm sure many of us would like to shake your hand somewhere along the way.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, comments, and well wishes. I'm taking a day off in Fairbanks and will begin my return tomorrow. I'm dreading the run back down to Destruction Bay. After that, it's great riding. The Black Hills are next!
Forgot to add that I have a buttload of photos and helmet video. everything will be posted once i sort through it all.

Glad to hear you are enjoying a well earned day of rest.
Very impressive ride! Be safe coming back down!
(I'm sure you'll blog about it at the end of the trip, but I'd be interested in what you thought were some of the more useful items that you took along, beside LZIII )

Welcome back to "civilization" (Fairbanks), and a well deserved day off. Glad to hear that you're still in one piece. Can't wait to read about your run up the Dalton Highway to the Arctic Circle. Stay safe, and God bless.
