It was for me. It's paid for itself 3 times over and I still have 2 years left on it. (5 yr.) Think of it like flood insurance for your house. If you live on real high ground you might not need it. If however you live on a flood plain chances are it'll be a smart move. Same thing with extended warranty. If you ride the hell out of your bike 25-30 K a year. it's a good bet, (especially if you get a lemon like i did) If however you just ride to the bar on Saturday night, and put a couple K a year on you might not need it.

I think they're a waste of money. I'm on my 4th Harley and would have lost a lot of money had I bought one for each bike.

statistically speaking extended warranties are almost always a bad bet. think about it, if the dealers lost a lot of money on them paying out engines and trannies they wouldn't be offered. most people pay and don't collect that is why they always try to scare you into getting one, it's a big money maker.

I look at it like an insurance policy. I hope I don't need it, but it's there if I do.

extended warranties only cover a couple years and cost thousands, if you ride for 30 years and add up the amount you paid in extended warranties to ensure your bike is covered for those 30 years you could probably pay cash for several bikes. and if you're only paying for a couple years coverage of that 30 years then what is the point?

even over 30 years if i pay out for an s&s engine and james tranny i'm still way ahead on money. they're really a bit of a scam.

Not a bad deal but would never pay msrp for it. I got a really god deal with Clint at Legacy HD on a 7 year with tire coverage.
