N.Y. Catskills

Plenty of places to "eat and drink" in Kingston which right off the NYS Thruway, exit 19. 20 mins west of there, you have Woodstock which connects to some nice back roads which you can ride to Phoenecia as mentioned. All depends how far you want to go.
Of course, cross a toll bridge when in Kingston and you will find Rhinebeck which can lead you to some nice roads also.
There is a newer motel in Kingston (Town of Ulster) which is next to a few places to eat and shop (mall, etc) which is nice if laying over for a night. Can leave the bikes parked, eat and slam down a cold one with no worries.

I rode the Catskills and the Lake George area in 1987. It is a beautiful area and was one of my more memorable rides.

Lots of nice riding in the Catskills.
Rt 28 is a good road and takes you into Phoencia, which has a couple of good places to eat, Sweet Sue's (best pancakes around) and Brio's for lunch or dinner. Rt 212 will take you to Woodstock.
Rt 23 to Hunter Mtn. and Oneonta. From Oneonta you can ride 28 north to Cooperstown. Also ride route 23A and Route 214. If you google map it, its easy to come up with some real nice roads and destinations.

OK, got it! Sorry for insulting you with that Charlie Rangel crap! (Well, I'D be insulted anyway!) Well anyway, it's a real nice world out there when you get about a hundred miles away from NY (or more)! Catskills are OK. Go north some more --- Adirondacks are better.
