Where do you carry your registration?

RE: Where do you carry your registration?
Nowhere. Contrary to popular belief, Ohio law does NOT require most persons to have in their possession the certificate of registration for the motor vehicle they are operating. Don't let anyone, even a law enforcement officer, tell you differently. If an leo says you are, ask him/her for the citation of the Revised Code section that requires it, and he/she won't because he/she can't because there isn't one. All they have to do is call in your plate number or renewal sticker to get whatever info they need.
When I was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint while in my car, the deputy sheriff asked for my proof of insurance and my registration. I took my insurance card out of my glovebox and handed it to him but told him that I did not have my registration. He asked why, and I said, "Because nothing in the Revised Code says I have to." He looked at me kind of funny and said, "Yes, you are right." After looking at my insurance card, he gave it back to me and sent me on my way.
I carry my bike insurance cards in my wallet.
All you folks in other states, you may want do a little bit of investigating and see whether the statutes of your state or, less likely, a provision of your administrative code, actually REQUIRES you to have your registration with you. I would not be surprised if other states are like Ohio but because of TV and the movies everyone thinks they do and local law enforcement sees no reason to tell you the truth.

RE: Where do you carry your registration?
it's just a piece of paper about the tags . It ain't no title so its not like your bike paperwork can be changed. Once listed as stolen it's worthless (or may even speed up recovery if they try to use it)
Face it , if your bike gets ripped it's going to be parted out , the thieves aren't worried about the tags/title /or even proof of insurance.
I would carry mine even if not required , I show it with no problems. The last thing I wasnt to do is hassle the law if I'm stopped. I don't give them any reason to search me or my bike.....

I carry mine is my wallet. Used to keep it in the saddlebag with my owners manual,
but feel it's safer in my wallet.

ziplock inside fork bag... none of the papers would benefit anyone who would steal the bike.... the title is in the house...
