Default Trading a 2001 XL1200C for a 1971 Super Glide

I currently have a 2001 XL1200C which is a beauty however I'm too tall for it. I've recently found someone on craigslist with a 1971 Super Glide who'd be interested in a trade. What I'm wondering is what the major differences between the two style bikes. The two friends that I have mentioned this to have both said the bike is too old even tho it's well maintained and they wouldn't make the trade. What is everyones thoughts? Would you trade bike for bike? If not, why?

don't take this as an insult. its not meant as one ...
but if you don't know the difference between late model EVO Sporty and an old Shovelhead, DON'T TRADE ...
the Shovelhead will require more input and effort on your part.

No offense taken. I know the difference between the two in general. I should have probably mentioned this in the original post. One of the reasons I'm leaning towards making the trade it to learn more about working on motorcycle and I assumed an older bike would be easier to work on as they're not as complex. I completely understand that it's going to require more work on my part to keep her running & sounding great.

Yes, he's gave me a list of modifications he's made and I've provided him with a similar list for my bike. I'm working out details to go meet and take each others bike for a test rider next week.

Here is what he said...I've removed the little stuff...he does mention that there is an oil leak however that was kind of something I expected to be honest on a bike that old or is the old "Every harley leaks oil" just another myth?

The motor is a 93ci (1520cc) Shovel Head and has the factory cases but an s&s big bore stroker kit (The crank, rods, pistons, and jugs are different)
STD dual plug performance heads
Electronic igniton (no points or condencer)
S&S carb
Belt primary/chain final drive and a dry type clutch
new Custom Chrome forward controls
new Spyke high torque starter
Thunder header 2 into 1 exhaus

If it's got the stock tank and fenders, (especially the rear boat tail) I'd jump on it.
