Can Am Spyder Knock-off?

Over the past few years, it has been brought to my attention that there are quite a number of people out the that are scared to death to ride a two wheeled motorcycle. Apparently they love the image and buy one and don't ride it or make excuses to their freinds about delaying purchasing one. Not only women but also men, hard to beleive but its true. The trike has solved this problem but I beleive this market needs some competition. and with all the private surveys out there, the manufacturers must also be aware of this.
As for the V-Rod Touring, why not? Would solve alot of HDs problems. Not my style though. The Limited will be my last Harley or ... maybe when I turn 60...like to relive my younger days with a 48.

Last week at Americade, I was at the Kuryakyn tent and they were hyping what appeared to be an aftermarket kit mounted to the front end of a Harley Dresser. It looked similar in design to the Can Am Spyder.

I think the Spyder is cool because they solved the stability and handling issues that plague trikes. I'm happy on two wheels but maybe when I'm older something like this will hold more interest. Bombardier has great engineering expertise - they also own Rotax which designs a lot of motorcycle engines. I'm not sure HD has the in house R&D staff to produce something like the Spyder.

In my state, the 3 wheels make it a motorcycle, though I can't see passing the DMV rider's course in it with the cones placed n-feet apart

Of course you cant believe everything that your Dealer tells you, but have any of you heard of HD producing a model that is similar to the Can Am Spyder that will have two front wheels and single rear? I was told today that it is in the works. He also said the liquid cooled touring model is coming.

I don't believe it for a lot of reasons unless they're going to just put the HD logo on a Can Am style vehicle produced by another company and marketed by HD. They no longer have the capital to gamble with building such a vehicle and in this economy it would be a hard sell.

H-D bought the Trihawk in the 80's but it never made it to production. The Kneeslider link above is real. The prototypes are in Collection X currently open to the public at the Harley-Davidson Museum. It's worth the visit.

I just now saw the knee slider, and that is the one I saw. Thanks for posting it!
