Default Denim Black (Gloss) ??

Was wondering if I shot a coat or two of high gloss clear over the factory denim black would it become vivid black or what would the out come be?

I doubt that it would qualify as Vivid Black becasue of the paint code but it would look like an average Black paint job.

I've never done this to a HD but have done it a lot on scale models due to running out of paint. Putting flat over gloss looks flat. Gloss over flat looks glossy but seems to lose some depth. A good gloss paint with a quality clear coat looks like you can stick your hand in it like water.

Why not just pick up a damaged fender cheap on ebay and give it a shot?

Spend $20 on a can of the black denim, paint something, then cover it with gloss. See how it looks before risking the bike.

That's a safer idea IMHO. I was getting ready for a ride a couple weeks ago, and picked up a rag one of my friends used to wipe his bike down with. After I got done I asked him if he used polish...answer was yes. Now my denim tank has a glossy "look" on the sides...
