Default For those of you that ride with no windshield ...

How do you do it??

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of my bike with the windshield off (04 FLSTCI) but i took it for a spin on the main avenue and it was almost unbearable for me above like 40mph

What was killing me was the wind sound in my ears. I couldn't even hear my bike, and i have a LOUD bike ha!

Is this just because im wearing a half helmet? Would this issue be much better wearing a 3/4?

Or do you just get used to it?

Thanks all ... be gentle, im a brand new rider as of 2 days ago.

From my experiances, adn I ride half helment and no earplugs, you just get used to it. I have a loud bike and when I get to normal highway speeds all I hear is the air rushing into my ears. However, I turn ever so slight once in a while to the right (side of the pipes) and hear em pretty nice without taking my eyes off the road, then turn to the left to listen for any unusual noises. Oh and my bike is pretty darn load its self. Wind noise will allways be an issue no matter what helment you wear when you ride without the windshield. That is just what I have gotten from any and all rides I have ever been on in the last 20 years. Hope that helps a little.

I wear a half helmet. Get some cheap ear plugs from wal-mart, in the gun section. You can still hear the bike, but the wind doesn't kill your ears.

My Fat Boy looks far better without the windshield on it, but at 54 years old I'm not a big fan of wind, sand, road debris, or insects smacking me in the face. I'd much rather ride with a light and comfortable novelty helmet and a pair of glasses behind my windshield, than having to wear a 3/4 lid with full face shield and picking dead bugs off my leathers at the end of the day.....

It's all a matter of personal choice, only you can decide, and it really doesn't matter what anyone else says or does, pick what suits your style and go with it......

Never rode with a windshield so I don't know any better, and I plan on keeping it that way. I got used to the sound, but I like having headphones.
