I don't have a windshield, or wear a helmet. When I am going for a highway ride I use earplugs. I buy them at Walgreens and keep them in an old pill bottle in my tool bag.
And dont worry about which way your bike looks 'cooler' or you will be taking off reflectors and dumb crap like that too. Do whats safest for you.

Nope. I use the ear canal type (rubber ear piece that stays in the ear in high winds).

I can't stand having my windshield on my Road King. It makes the wind noise even louder. I wear a full face and earplugs. I get so caught up in the ride I don't even worry about hearing the bike.

Is this just because im wearing a half helmet? Would this issue be much better wearing a 3/4?

Or do you just get used to it?

Thanks all ... be gentle, im a brand new rider as of 2 days ago.
Uhh....ya prolly don't see 90 or 100 much then,huh ?.... Ain't got a shield on/for mine,neither....And nah....no earplugs/foam,none o' that stuff....mine's LOUD(really like the tone at a steady3-3400 R's)....no helmet neither,'less I'm in a mandatory State for'm....usually cruise the slabs at 'bout 80....sometimes back off ta 75... not uncommon ta hit 100 at the on-ramps....but between loud pipes,and 35+ yrs of listen'n ta tools/machines run....I can't hear sh*t,LOL!
(ain't really got a problem with the wind....it's just there.....)

no wind shield, 3/4 helmet, no earplugs. I cant even hear the wind. That's what 18 years in the Corps will do to your hearing...

Good earplugs. The silicone ones that you roll into a ball and then stuff into your ears are pretty cool. And I find that having huge ***** helps alot too.
