Default Leather Vest???

Ok just curious as to what the hell is the purpose of a leather vest on a motorcycle??? I mean what does it protect you from if you go down?? It seems kind of worthless...is it just for looks?

Keeps your shirt from fluttering really helps fatiuge on 4-500 mile days, keeps stuff in your shirt pocket, warmer than just a shirt cooler than a jacket oh and they look good too. if ya got a thing against vests don't wear one.

It protects the body core, the only part of a rider's body that is perpendicular to the wind, from chill & bees & provides pockets & conceals weapons.
Any other stupid questions?
