Consider yourself blessed. You definitely came out better than most. What type of protective gear were you wearing?

don im glad your ok!...
my brothers father in law, wasnt as lucky as you, last year...
he had zero time to react as the deer and him collided at 65mph...
his 98 RK and himself were busted up pretty bad...
hes made a great recovery and is looking forward to riding again...
his insurance company gave him 4k for the "totaled" bike...
repairs are under way....

I have ridden M28 myself and it is a deer haven. I grew up in MI and have lived there off and on for most of my life. I have hit a deer one time in the lower peninsula but was fortunate like yourself that it caused no damage to me or my uncles Nomad that I had borrowed.
Shows that we must always stay alert when on the road, and not just from the idiots on their cell phones!!!

Don G - I take it you were wearing a helmet and decent riding gear. No talk of road rash.

I was stationed at Sawyer back in the mid 80's. A guy from my squadron hit a fawn on US-41 out by Skandia. He was on a little Honda and T-boned it at speed. Smashed the little deer to a pulp, took the forks off the bike and he broke both wrists holding on to the bike.

Happy you're safe. I almost hit two dogs on a road trip. Was able to shut things down, quickly!

Well....I'm happy to hear you were lucky (and experienced) enough to live to post about this incident! Had plenty of close calls with deer myself...(so far so good)....even when you manage to see them in plenty of time they're so damn unpredictable!
