It will be time soon to store my bike for winter and I'm not sure if there is any real advantage
to leaving it in a heated(50-60*) space vs. unheated garage. My garage is unheated but the HD
dealers will store your bike for you for a fee in a heated space. It would be nice to have the bike
in my garage and be able to go out for a short ride in the dead of winter if the roads are clear and
salt free. Is keeping it in a heated space much better for the bike than an unheated garage? I
only have a 2 car garage so my truck would have to be outside. I know what my wife would vote
for......leaving it at the dealer!

heated is nice, but not needed. Get a good indoor cover that breathes

 

In a heated garage there is less chance of your chrome developing rust do to higher moisture content in a non heated garage

Darryl88, this is what I was thinking. But I figure if the bikes in the garage and if I wipe it
down once a week or so with some S100 Detail & Wax it should be fine.

KeithB, good point on the indoor cover. I have one of these.

 

The spare bedroom is where I'll be when I tell the wife I want a second bike. But hey,
at least I'd have company!

 

Let's face it guys a heated garage is a little better. Is it absolutely necessary, NO. Better? Yes.
