Now that is a game of astroids and you got no laser gun. Makes NYC seem like serenity and calm.

 

I just got back from a ride around town in Tulsa, OK (not exactly NYC). "Our tax dollars are at work", unfortunately there is so much construction going on you can't enjoy a city ride these days. The "orange cones" change from day to day.

 

I rode into NYC weekly to meet my wife for lunch at her work location at 54th. and Park Ave. Always interesting but in later years I didn't have the patience.

Even worse was the ride through the Lincoln tunnel. Nothing like stand still traffic in the middle of the tube behind a bus.

 

I ride into NYC everyday....the worst thing and the thing that scares me the most are the HUGE potholes everywhere.....and when it rains.....look out!

Those metal construction covers always worried me. But I never was forced to ride into the city in the rain. Later years I mellowed and took the NY Waterways ferry.

That sentence implies New York is part of New England.
It is not. New England is CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, and ME.

Mid and upstate New York have some gorgeous open country to ride in.
Some parts towards the end of Long Island also.

However...NYC...ugh, I wonder how bikers do it. Every 3-4 months I go down to Manhattan to do some work, up on East 86th. I take slAmTrak into Penn..and take a white knuckle cab right uptown. Here and there I'll see a bike parked..and wonder to myself how the heck those guys manage it. Granted...they must never get up to speed, so accidents are most likely fender benders for the cars and fork misaligners for the bikes...but can't be road rash material.

 

I went to NYC shortly after finisheing my MSF course... could not believe the crap the motorcycles were doing. Saw some guy on a little 250cc Suzuki looked like a pro slalom racer.

 

The key to the whole thing is patience. Sometimes you just are better off to sit there and deal with it and try not to hurry.

There are rewarding times to ride. I come from the north, and early in the morning, the best part of the whole deal is the west side highway with the hudson river on the right, GW bridge and all of that. You have to pay for it when you head out during a rush hour though. That's when the games begin.

 

If you run over a hipster it's 50 pts. Hit enough of them and gain XP points and you'll be rewarded in life.
