Me either, though my best friend was born and raised on Staten Island. I visited him a few years ago and decided it was too "tight" for me. I like wide open spaces too much.

That was my last trip to New York.

Know what you're talking about. I helped put up a "morgue tent" in Guam for the crash of Korean flight 801. They were bringing in bodies while we were still working. Sights and smells you never forget. Had to fly about 22 hours back to the States lessvthan a week after too.

Upstate New York has some of the most serene and scenic country to ride in, including lake george, Adirondaks, and the finger lakes region. Very biker friendly and very pleasant people. I make my way up there for my long rides and camping style rides.

Very different from the mean streets and fun!

True, but the winters can be a bitch. As far as riding a bike in NYC, I did it once, and will never do it again. Bikers in the Big Apple are a breed all their own. I will never forget riding on some side street in lower Manhattan. There was this stunningly beautiful woman in a wheelchair. She was missing both legs at the knees, and was panhandling. Then there was this old lady walking along the sidewalk, she just squatted and took a dump, acted like she was the only person in the world. It is an interesting palce to visit, but no way in hell would I want to live there.

I'm always worried something's going to happen out in the country...animal running out onto the road, rocks, UFOs, who knows.

I grew up holding on to buses while skateboarding and bicycling...kind of like playing Frogger. It gives me this strange secure feeling. I do love getting out of the city, though.

That video tells me one thing. If I ever go to New York, I'll be taking a cab.

I like SoCal. It's also been in the 70s the last few days.

We visit NYC several times a year. My girlfriend is always walking around the steel grates that are all over the sidewalk. I told her its not the grates that you have to worry about, stay off the manhole covers. 5 minutes later a manhole cover blew off on the street we were going to see a play at
