2) I have short legs. Adding a towl may not be much height but was thinking of cutting down my foam in the seat to get closer to the ground. Hope it doesn ot take away some cushion comfort. I suspect it may.

That is y I am saying wood versus ceramic and I left sheepskin out of it. Also just seems the beads would work better. 40,00 (or whatever number) of cabbies in new york use the beads way more than sheepskin the best I can figure.
TY for your input.

I go to one of the big box stores and buy a beaded seat cover (wooden) for a car seat.....cut it to fit over the whole seat(wife likes it also)...cost about 6 bucks...

As far as cooler, they are about the same. Both (and also sheepskin) keep you cooler by allowing airflow between you and the seat. The beads probably may you a little cooler, but I find the sheepskin is more comfortable. The hard beads hurt my soft tush.
I haven't tried the gel pad/sheepskin thing. I use a plain merino sheepskin, BTW the long hair ones will mat up, the short hair ones won't.

I had one of the wooden bead seat covers in my old truck. Vinyl seats, no AC, just a fan and roll windows down. Kept my buttax and backside cool for 20 years. Had to repair it a number of times when the beads would start coming off and rolling around on the floor. Got to get one for the bike. That black seat gets hot in the warm sunny weather.
