Trouble seeing at night
#11
I have the black LED headlight and spots on my 2001 RK and feel they are well worth the money. The quality of the light (like daylight), plus the well-defined beams and better close-in spread make nighttime back roads riding much more enjoyable.
As to if they are worth it, it all depends on how important you feel it is to see well in the dark. Some think a $500 helmet is a sound expenditure, while others are satisfied with a $70 discount house special.

Wow!
Thanks for all the feedback!
I'll try to take these in order:
@petemac
Does the dual halogen fit into the standard 7" headlight bucket? What is required to make it work, can you point me to a source?
@indiandave
I have asked my doctor and he says that I am at the right RX and that I could try yellow for more ocntrast / less glare, but that's not the problem I'm having. I am having the issue the most on unlit back roads.
@Wild Card
Not sure that will help, but I will give it a try.
@02fx4dude
Thanks for the feedback. Reagrding HID, if I understand it is that you have to mount the ballast somewhere. Anyone know if it would fit behind the Fatboy's tins? Also, don't the HIDs run hot? Not sure I want that.
@oct1949
Great suggestion and if all else fails I will do so. Not crazy about the look, but like I say if I get to LED and its still not enough, I will sacrifice looks for function.
@Dissociative
I agree, although I will give them a try
@Navy Team1
Same questions as above on the HIDs: Can I hide the ballast? Do they run hot enough that I care?
@SgtSkiddz
I do not smoke. However, your question intrigued me. I found this:
http://www.aoa.org/x5352.xml amongst other links. Very interesting stuff.
@DAKO1
I likely will, and I agree $500 is cheap, cheap insurance.
@mel72349
I am leaning that way.
Thanks all of you for your feedback.
One follow-on question for those that are running the LED:
How do you feel about the daytime visibility? That seems to be the one area where the HID is a clear winner.
And if anyone is running a HID on a Fatboy I would love to hear details!
Thanks for all the feedback!
